Working With the Best
Thistle House Farms began as a hobby farm concept that my partner Ken and I envisioned as a semi-retirement plan. While researching mini-Highland Cows for our farm, I discovered Care Farms and learned about the incredible work being done in the UK and US to support seniors with dementia and youth facing mental health challenges. With 17 years of experience at Bayshore Healthcare, I thought, why not start now?
We educated ourselves through the Alzheimer Society of Canada's Virtual Education series and found inspiration from other local Care Farms in Canada, such as Green Care Farms in Milton, ON. Thanks to their guidance and the 'How to Start a Care Farm' series, we began turning our dream into reality. Leveraging my experience at Bayshore Healthcare, we successfully pitched our idea to various supporting leaders, and would like to offer this unique service to the Brant County and surrounding area.
